Garden View

A comfortable, spacious 2 bedroom (each with ensuite shower room), ground-floor apartment, within the west wing of a beautiful Edwardian hunting lodge - Porlock Vale House, with gorgeous views to the sea across its enclosed garden (patio and BBQ). Garden View's conservatory is perfect for relaxing at the end of a long day on the Moor. Please note, Wifi is available but due to the remote location, it cannot be relied on for work/streaming purposes. Cot and/or Highchair is available on request. We offer weekly stays (Saturday to Saturday) during peak season, however, shorter stays may be available on request. Please email porlockvalehouse@gmail.com to book or for more details.

Garden view is in a stunning location with a short stroll to a pebble beach. There are glorious sunsets from The beach. The gardens and surrounding fields are gorgeous and well kept. There were horses, rabbits and birds to watch. We were very lucky with the weather and could sit on the patio in the very comfy garden furniture. The apartment had everything we needed and is especially suited to anyone with walking difficulties. We love porlock weir and have been visiting regularly for the past 40 years and this was one of the best holidays we have had. Hope to book again next year.

What a gem, sparkling clean, spacious and comfortable with everything on hand for an awesome stay. A delightful dog proof garden and serenity for the soul.

Jamie and Tilly,  April 2019

We had a wonderful few days, the apartment was immaculate and a really lovely place to stay. The location of Garden View was ideal for walking the South West coastal path and by using the bus service running from Porlock Weir to Minehead and taxis from Lynton & Porlock we were able to complete this section of the path. Both taxi services we used were excellent, Exmoor Taxis based in Porlock and Lyn Taxis from Lynton, we contacted both via email as our mobile reception was not great in the apartment. Both were happy to pick up or take to County Gate half way between Porlock Weir and Lynmouth. The Bottom Ship Inn was great for evening meals, tasty, well presented food and welcoming staff. Nice to be able to saunter down and back without having to get in the car and drive. Much appreciated welcome tea tray and cake on arrival thank you. We will certainly recommend this lovely place.

We had a wonderful time despite Storm Gareth trying to spoil it. The 'cottage' was perfect for the two of us and our 2 Labradors, who just loved all the lovely long walks. It is perfectly situated for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding area. Porlock is lovely with lots of great places to eat and my husband enjoyed the beer. The cottage was clean, and comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. The cake and tea provided for our arrival was most welcome.

This was a really nice place to stay and the cake on our arrival was a most welcome and thoughtful touch. The pictures accurately depicted the accommodation, very comfortable, spacious and great views out to sea. There's very little to disturb the peace and quiet and the nights dark with next to no light pollution. Porlock is an area that we love and keep returning to, so I am sure that we will come back to stay at "Garden View".

We loved staying at Garden View - it was so clean, spacious and warm with lovely furnishings and a fabulous view out towards Bossington Beach. We felt a great deal of care had been taken to make this flat the perfect place to stay and how kind to leave a tea tray, with a lovely cake, for our arrival. The pictures give a completely accurate view of the property and the garden was a good secure space for our dog. If you're planning to visit Porlock for all the wonderful scenery that surrounds it, the great walks, tea rooms and pubs, Garden View is an excellent place to stay.

A very clean and welcoming cottage. We enjoyed our stay and so did our dog. We loved the style of the furniture and decor in the cottage and would certainly book again. It was very handy for woodland, beach and coastal walks (no need to take the car) and good to have a dog-friendly pub, serving food, within walking distance too. Several other places to eat in Porlock Weir were closed for Winter renovations (January visit) but Porlock, Brendon and Lynmouth are close by. As well as lots of good walks, there is plenty to do and see in the surrounding area.

We have had cottages for years but this one had the most comfortable bed and brilliant shower. It has large rooms, is really airy with excellent heating which you can adjust yourself and very well equipped. The welcome pack was very 'welcoming' after that journey down the A39. The grounds are beautiful and we were free to roam. There were dog proofed paths down to the beach, although if you are unsteady on your feet the beach is rather precarious. The photograph is shown from the back of the property, the front is stunning. The garden was dog proofed very well. Porlock itself is a lovely village with many good eateries. All in all it was perfect place for us and we have a lovely peaceful holiday.

The appartment was perfect and the welcome tray found on arrival with lemon drizzle cake greatly appreciated . We were so lucky with the weather Blue skies warm and sunny so was able to take breakfast on the patio enjoying the view it was so relaxing there the patio was furnished with comfortable chairs the flat was furnished to a very high standard and was furnished with everything you could wish for we found it so relaxing there that we did ask if the appartment was vacant for the following week but unfortunately for us it was fully booked. we had such a perfect holiday that we hope to return again. the garden was very secure so perfect for our dog, we would happily recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful relaxing holiday.

Shirley, September 2018

There is not much i can add to the 5 stars all round.  We had one of the best holiday in years, in fact on a couple of days we were tempted to just sit and read on the patio, it was so relaxing.

Excellent apartment, very clean with all facilities (one of the best we have used over the years). Very friendly, helpful housekeeper. Appreciated the welcoming tea tray and delicious lemon cake. Good walks from the property: to Porlock through the forest, Bossington across the marshes and Porlock Weir. We had a superb dinner at Reeves in Dunster. Lynton and Lynmouth worth a visit with some good craft shops. The West Somerset Steam Railway is worth a trip if you like trains! Roads over Exmoor are spectacular..

Gynn, July 2018

The setting for Garden View is beautiful. A lovely place to stay. Very tranquil. The housekeeper met us on our first morning and asked if we had settled in alright and if we needed anything. As good as photos online show. All you could need. Very clean. You can take a leisurely walk down to the water behind the property. Lovely to sit in the sun room first thing in the morning or in the evening. (Also where a delicious lemon cake was left on our arrival-thank you) The location is great. Just a few minutes drive to Porlock and Porlock Wier. Lynton and Lynmouth are not far and have lovely scenery, shops and places to eat. Well worth a visit is Sheppey Cider brewery, Three Bridges,Bradford-on-Tone, Taunton. Cider aside they have a lovely restaurant and food is exquisite. We were made to feel very welcome and would visit again.

Attaway, June 2018

Whole apartment was beautifully kept and spotless. We loved our stay here and would readily recommend it to anyone considering staying here. If you visit Linton and Lynemouth, would highly recommend Laceys Tea room in Linton - best fish and chip tea ever!!
